Samen Als
Our pilot program
A holistic approach is at the core of every Stichting Reckoning Project. Combining public art and Stichting Reckoning’s Education Method, creates a narrative around social issues in a non-threatening way. Through our unique tent design this narrative gives way to community dialogues. Samen Als aims to draw people from a fractured community towards a shared humanity.
This project has 2 different components: A tented art intervention and multiple workshops in cooperation with Podium Mozaiek.
Our initial tent project will be in the Bos en Lommer area of Amsterdam in 2009 and endorsed by the Stadsdeel of Bos en Lommer. This is a one-day event happening inside and around a tent. The location will be either outside Podium Mozaiek or on the green near the Bos en Lommerplein.
The workshops are designed for basic and middle school-aged. These workshops focus on artistic expression. The classes will be offered through Podium Mozaiek to the students of schools in the Bos en Lommer and in the Nieuwe West area.

In*Sight
Inner Voices Revealed
Project In*Sight’s objective is to collaborate with existing programs/institutions in developing countries to give voice to the marginalized children of the world as their global demographic increases. In*Sight seeks to empower underprivileged children through the use of art and creativity as a means of self-expression. This will be achieved through workshops and subsequent exhibitions.
This project is designed teach basic photography skills to children 9-12 year old children who are marginalized or at risk (financially disadvantaged, orphans, or emotionally at risk) who are participating in a support program or institution. They will be mentored by professional artists and apprentices using Stichting Reckoning's Educational Method.
As a result of this experience, a series will be developed and showcased in exhibits. These
exhibitions will serve as an artistic intervention to increase awareness of disadvantaged children’s stories and the rising global phenomenon of this demographic. The proceeds will go into a scholarship trust for the children to use for school or furthering some positive endeavor after leaving their support program or orphanage.
In*Sight’s primary focus is children from Third World situations. For 2010, the focus of In*Sight for this stage is photography but we hope to expnad into multiple art forms. Our initial programs will launch in the Philippines,Russia and South Africa.
