On July 7, Christine Wood flies to Amsterdam to work with Shawna to finalize Reckoning’s On the Mend in a Broken World; Reckoning’s Handbook for Holistic Leading and Teaching.

One of the saddest and most obvious malfunctions in the world is education. The fundamental problem with education throughout the world, especially in Europe and North America, is poignantly and powerfully stated by Charles Colson,

The decline in American (and European) public education is not due to poor teaching or lack of funding; it is due to educational theories that deny the existence of transcendent truth and morality, that renounce standards of excellence, and that ultimately render children unteachable.

The Christian in Today’s Culture

This lies behind behavioral problems in the classroom that prevent teachers from spending time actually teaching. In July Shawna and Christine will be putting together training materials to teach character development through art process. We are training volunteers in Amsterdam how to teach children character qualities that are based on transcendent truth and morality. We will also be developing materials on classroom management and interfacing with parents.
