Our Objectives and Our Elements

Stichting Reckoning seeks to initiate personal and social transformation by using art in public spaces. This space becomes a multi-sensory art intervention that guides a participant through a creative learning experience.

Our Objectives

The aim is to organize mobile art projects in city centers as well as multicultural neighborhoods in partnership with existing local art institutions, organizations, large projects and festivals.

Each project will incorporate all the senses, creating a holistic experience for each participant. Every project commissions various artists to design works that support the overall theme of the project.

The desired outcome translates into these responses:

  1. Increased compassion and empathy for one another in global communities.
  2. Catalyzed transformation of accepted local and global issues.
  3. Empowered and developed young artists to combine their gifts, talents and passions to create a platform for creativity, using it as a
vehicle for personal and social transformation.
  4. Provided opportunities for established artists to mentor and develop young artisans.
  5. Engaged more of the general public with cultural expressions of art by using public spaces.
  6. Encouraged the development of the art community to move beyond
self-interest and embrace art for the sake of humanity and  creativity.

Education

Education in any aspect of life is one of the most fundamental privileges of the human experience.

Stichting Reckoning envisions education as a fundamental part of its initiative.

Stichting Reckoning seeks to cooperate with schools and programs. The art itself is seen as vehicle to learning. What the participant learns will be based on the focus of art and the communities in which they live.

Each event or session Stichting Reckoning constructs will be intentionally designed to be a rich and powerful experiential learning environment. The learning is based on Stichting Reckoning’s own Educational Method.

Art & Society

Art is multi-faceted and holds different messages and meanings for different people.

The position of Stichting Reckoning is to encourage and invite public participation into dialogues started from significant artworks (installations, fine art, photography, video, performance, etc.). This encourages new perceptions of art and helps our audience see ‘art’ outside the scope of currency commodities or elitist collectables.

Public Space

Public space is any area in which all manner of people are able to enter into and utilize that space.

Public art is becoming increasingly important for including artistic
provision in urban development. Stichting Reckoning desires to utilize
public space to impact communities through the creative experiences.

Sustainablitiy

A holistic approach to life would not be possible without considering how our present choices affect the lives of others presently and in the future.

Reckoning is committed to seeking solutions that strike a balance between social, environmental and economic systems. As we live in a global community, it is important that we develop processes to meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
