  • Shawna Snow Founder/Director

    Shawna spent over 10 years as a public school teacher in California. She has her Master’s Degree is Global Urban Leadership and has pursued youth development in communities for the past 20 years involving urban and cross-cultural environments. She has lived in Amsterdam for the past 6 years with her family. She loves to read, run, travel and  spend time with friends and family.

  • Shayna Schapp: Art Designer

    Shayna Schapp is an artist living and working in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her relentless belief in the potential for transformation through the creative process led her to work as Art Coordinator for LEAD. She is also an instructor for the Interactive/Media/Design department at the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague, a new program weaving social responsibility and personal leadership development into a media arts education, and is the art editor for Versal, the international art and literary annual out of Amsterdam. Shayna has lived in Amsterdam for 4 years.

  • Kaisa Stenberg: Implementation Team Leader

    Kaisa is a Finn who studied education in the University of Wales, Bangor (Bachelor of Arts, Childhood Studies). After that she has worked with families and young people for non-profit organisations in Amsterdam.  “I enjoy exploring life with people from different cultural backgrounds and seeking together ways to better connect with life, ourselves and one other. There are very few things that excite me more than seeing growth and transformation in people’s lives that cause whole families, communities and eventually societies change into something more beutiful, more real. For me working with LEAD is all about these profound developments that we see taking place through the unique Reckoning approach and art education.”
  • Trish Webb Wisdom Teacher

    Trish has over 10 years of primary school teaching experience in public and private schools. As a classroom teacher, she has worked in economically diverse and multicultural settings with a range of students and their families. After living in Seattle, WA for 4 years, Trish and her family have just relocated to Amsterdam.

  • Els Knowles: Student Staff Liaison

    Els Knowles is a Dutch artist currently working on her Master’s degree in counseling and coaching. She is the Student Staff Liaison at LEAD, helping students and staff to cultivate their unique talents and better understand how they fit into the “big picture” of life. Els spent her childhood in a vibrant multicultural community and has lived and worked in several countries. She volunteered as a mentor with a variety of women’s ministries in The Hague for twelve years and in 2000, she helped setup Superstars, a non-profit children’s ministry for toddlers. Due to her background, experience and personality, Els is a natural at connecting with and developing the strengths in others in a variety of contexts – particularly an international one such as LEAD.
  • Evelyn Cervantes

    Evelyn is Reckoning’s Art Director in Photography for Reckoning’s Everyday Leadership Academy in Cabrillo Village.

    Evelyn is a 2nd year student at Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura.  She grew up in a neighborhood much like Cabrillo Village, and is a perfect fit for our program.  She has spent time instructing elementary and middle school students both in Utah and in Mexico, as well as teaching English to adults in Mexico.  She was the Youth Leader of her church, and handled the planning of camps, and weekly services.  Evelyn is working towards earning her degree in Photo Journalism.  She is instructing the Cabrillo Village students in the basics of photography, as well as documenting the process on film.

  • Christine Wood

    Christine Wood is Reckoning’s Leadership Developer. Her roles within Reckoning are found everywhere. She works closely with the Everyday Leadership Academy in Cabrillo Village, she designs the majority of the Leadership cirriculum, she fundraises and she scouts out new locations for where Reckoning can be a contributing partner in building stronger communities.

    Christine has been a Leadership professor at the graduate level for over 10 years. She has taught leadership on 5 continents and continues to train leaders within Reckoning and through her position at Bakke Graduate University. She is a published author and is currently writing her second book.  She is married and lives with her husband in Ventura, California. They have 2 sons and three grandchildren.

  • Patricia Cowan

    Patricia is Reckoning’s Wisdom Teacher for the Everyday Leadership Academy in Cabrillo Village.

    Patricia has over 15 years of public school teaching and school administration. She has also instructed at local Community Colleges. Patricia has consistently sought opportunities to work with At-Risk students throughout her life. She has a Master’s Degree in Education. As a teen, Patricia spent a summer in Glasgow, Scotland with Teen Missions International, and another summer travelling with Continental Singers. She loves to read, travel, and to spend time with her family.
